Established as an EU PDO in 1997, the Colline Salernitane olive oil denomination presents a striking anomaly compared to neighboring designations. Although it maintains an official protection consortium, the Consorzio di Tutela Colline Salernitane DOP, the designation currently lists exactly zero verified producers. Furthermore, its officially recorded production zone encompasses zero municipalities. This complete absence of active growers and geographic municipal territory sets Colline Salernitane apart from any active Italian olive oil. It remains a legally protected designation that exists purely as an administrative entity, devoid of certified agricultural reality or physical press houses.
