Planargia
Wine · PGI · 8 municipalities
Established in 1999 across eight west-central Sardinian municipalities including Bosa and Flussio, the Planargia IGT occupies a highly unusual niche. Despite its official status, the denomination currently has zero verified producers. For those who do bottle under this name, the rules enforce a striking restriction: while base blends can utilize any Sardinian grape, varietal-labeled wines must exclude the island's most famous varieties—such as Cannonau, Vermentino, and Carignano—from carrying their name on the label, even though they may contribute to the blend. Furthermore, a drafting error in the official text mistakenly inserts the name of a neighboring IGT, Tharros, into Planargia's own consumption-characteristics table.
