Mompantero

Spreading across the steep lower slopes of Mount Rocciamelone in the Susa Valley, Mompantero’s alpine topography shapes its 16 protected denominations. This mountainous terrain, rising sharply from the valley floor, provides the rocky, sun-exposed soils necessary for cultivating the rare Valsusa DOC, an alpine wine produced across a restricted zone of just 19 municipalities. On these same rugged elevations, the cooler mountain climate nurtures the sweet Marrone della Valle di Susa IGP, a celebrated local chestnut harvested within a territory of 28 communes, where altitude concentrates the starch and sugars.
