This Piedmontese enclave of just 398 residents, situated within the metropolitan area of Turin, hosts 15 protected denominations that reflect its unique terroir. Chief among these is the Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG, a crisp white wine cultivated across a restricted zone of only 36 municipalities. The local alpine microclimate also nurtures the Canavese DOC. Here, glacial moraine soils and mountain breezes develop the high acidity and floral aromatics unique to the Erbaluce grape. This tiny community proves that exceptional wine growing thrives in highly concentrated geographic pockets, where heritage outshines mere physical scale.
