San Giorio di Susa

Situated on the steep, sun-drenched alpine slopes of the Susa Valley within Turin's metropolitan territory, San Giorio di Susa’s dramatic terrain shapes its distinct agriculture. This mountain outpost yields the rare, terraced vineyards of Valsusa DOC, a wine produced across a restricted zone of 19 municipalities. The valley's microclimate also nurtures the sweet Marrone della Valle di Susa IGP chestnut. In total, the municipality hosts 16 protected denominations, including the aromatic Genepì del Piemonte IG. These high-altitude conditions concentrate sugars and essential oils, defining the authentic tastes born of this rocky alpine corridor.
