Magliano Alfieri
24 protected denominations overlap in this municipality.
Magliano Alfieri, known as Magliano d'Alba until its 1910 renaming, rises from the steep sandy slopes of the Roero district. This distinctive pliocene terroir fuels 24 protected denominations, led by the highly localized Terre Alfieri DOCG, a wine appellation restricted to just 11 neighboring municipalities. The rugged hillsides also nurture the prestigious Roero DOCG, which spans a narrow zone of 19 communes. Here, the dry microclimate and steep sands impart a sharp minerality and intense aromatics to native Arneis and Nebbiolo grapes, defining a viticultural identity distinct from the flatter plains of Cuneo.
