Tarantasca

In the flat, fertile soils of Cuneo, the compact Piedmontese commune of Tarantasca—home to just over 2,200 residents—nurtures some of northern Italy’s most specialized agricultural treasures. The municipality participates in 18 protected denominations, driven by a microclimate ideal for fruit and legume cultivation. Chief among these is the crisp Mela Rossa Cuneo IGP, a red apple grown within a restricted zone of 45 local municipalities, alongside the tender Fagiolo Cuneo IGP. Here, alpine breezes and alluvial earth combine to yield products of distinct sweetness, defining Tarantasca's highly localized gastronomic identity.
