Though sharing its name with the courtyard farmsteads typical of the Lombardy and Po Valley plains, the Tuscan town of Cascina in Pisa writes its own agrarian history. This territory yields 15 protected denominations. Foremost is the San Torpè DOC, a white wine restricted to a small zone of 16 municipalities, alongside the broader, marine-influenced Costa Toscana IGT. These wines derive their character from the alluvial soils of the lower Arno basin, establishing a highly specialized wine culture that defines this specific Tuscan landscape and sets it apart from northern farm heritages.
