Mergozzo

Mergozzo lies where the crystal-clear waters of its namesake lake meet the rugged wilderness of the Val Grande National Park. This dramatic transition from lakeside to alpine heights shapes the local microclimate, nurturing the pristine high-altitude pastures where cows graze. From these mountains comes Ossolano DOP, an aromatic cheese produced across just 37 alpine municipalities. The elevation also fosters wild botanicals, fueling the production of Genepì del Piemonte IG. In total, Mergozzo hosts 15 protected denominations, linking its food and spirits directly to the wild slopes of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province.
