What distinguishes this denomination from neighboring IGTs is its highly specific internal limits: while standard varieties allow an 80% juice-to-wine yield, Lambrusco is restricted to a tighter 75%. Furthermore, although maximum grape yields vary widely—ranging from 20 tons per hectare for Merlot up to 29 tons for Trebbiano—every single style must adhere to a uniform, flat minimum alcohol level of 8.5% vol. The IGT also serves a rare dual purpose as a declassification fallback for local DOP wines.
