Isola dei Nuraghi
Wine · PGI · 377 municipalities
Established in 1999, the Isola dei Nuraghi IGT covers 377 Sardinian municipalities, from Abbasanta to Albagiara. Unlike the island's restrictive DOCs, this designation provides winemakers the flexibility to blend native varieties like Cannonau and Vermentino with international grapes selected from approximately 75 eligible varieties. This specific versatility makes Isola dei Nuraghi a primary vehicle for premium, non-traditional blends that bypass stricter regional regulations. Under IGT rules, red and rosé wines must reach a minimum alcohol content of 10.0% vol, with yields capped at 18.0 tonnes per hectare, resulting in some of the island's most commercially significant and ambitious wines.
