Rossese di Dolceacqua

Wine · PDO · 14 municipalities

Recognized since 1973, Rossese di Dolceacqua is a Ligurian red wine requiring a minimum of 95% Rossese grapes, cultivated exclusively on well-exposed slopes up to 600 meters in altitude while strictly excluding valley-floor sites. The production zone spans 14 municipalities, including Apricale and Camporosso, where the terroir is so highly differentiated that the appellation defines 33 official subzones, or UGAs, allowed on labels to specify geographic origin. While the base wine must reach 12.0% alcohol, the Superiore designation requires a minimum of 13.0% alcohol and cannot be released before November 1 of the year following harvest.
