Terre Abruzzesi
Wine · PGI · 305 municipalities
Recognized in 2022, the Terre Abruzzesi PGI spans 305 municipalities across Abruzzo, including Abbateggio and Acciano. This denomination differs from surrounding designations by excluding the region's historic Montepulciano grape from its list of thirty varieties eligible for single-varietal labeling. Instead, varietal bottlings require at least 85% of grapes like Trebbiano, Pecorino, or Merlot. For the base rosso, which is capped at a maximum yield of 24.0 t/ha and a minimum alcohol level of 10.5% vol, winemakers may blend up to four same-color varieties, provided any minor component contributes more than 15% of the total blend.
