Valle Belice

Recognised in 1999, the Valle Belice IGT spans four Sicilian municipalities, including Menfi and Santa Margherita di Belice. While this territory historically overlaps with the 'Menfi bianco' wine profile documented in Garoglio’s 1953 enological literature, today's designation is distinguished from its peers by a strict dual-variety labeling rule: when two grape varieties are named on a label, each must contribute more than 15% of the blend and be listed in descending order of volume. Yields are restricted to 17.0 tonnes per hectare for red wines, which must achieve a minimum alcohol content of 11.0% by volume.
