Soglio

Soglio’s tiny community of just 127 residents in the Asti province belies its immense viticultural footprint. This microscopic Piedmontese territory nurtures 18 protected denominations, led by the local Freisa d'Asti DOC, a red wine shared with 117 surrounding municipalities, alongside Barbera d'Asti DOCG. Soglio’s steep southern exposures and limestone-rich soils provide the essential drainage and heat retention required for these late-ripening grapes. By focusing viticultural efforts within such a compact zone, Soglio elevates rustic, berry-scented Freisa and robust Barbera into highly concentrated expressions that define the Asti winemaking region.
