Malvicino

In the secluded hills of Alessandria, the tiny municipality of Malvicino, home to barely eighty residents, fosters a landscape where intensive agriculture is impossible, giving rise to highly concentrated artisanal flavors. This steep terrain belongs to a select zone of just 19 municipalities authorized to craft Robiola di Roccaverano DOP, a goat's milk cheese shaped by the wild pastures of these highlands. The rugged elevation also defines the viticulture here, contributing to the 18 protected denominations overlapping this microclimate. Among these, the native white grape thrives, producing the crisp Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato DOC on these sharp slopes.
