Carona

Carona sits high in the Brembana Valley, 50 kilometers north of Bergamo's provincial center, among rugged alpine peaks that shape its food culture. This high-altitude terroir fosters the creation of Formai de Mut dell'Alta Valle Brembana DOP, a mountain cheese restricted to a tight zone of just 21 municipalities. The extreme pastures also yield the historic Bitto DOP, shared across a limited zone of 87 alpine territories. In total, Carona overlaps with 16 protected denominations, proving that this small mountain community is a vital alpine dairy hub.
