Laives/Leifers

Laives/Leifers occupies the rocky slopes and alluvial basin just south of Bolzano, where alpine drafts clash with warm Mediterranean currents to forge a unique microclimate. This valley floor environment shapes the character of the 17 protected denominations overlapping in the municipality. Local vineyards feed the prestigious Alto Adige DOC, a wine zone spanning 52 municipalities, alongside the Valdadige DOC. The steep mountain topography also fosters the aromatic botanicals required for Südtiroler Enzian IG, transforming the town's distinct bilingual borderland terroir into a sanctuary of high-altitude viticulture and specialized spirits.
