In the sun-drenched basin of South Tyrol, where the Adige Valley widens under the protective shield of the Alps, the alpine microclimate of Lana fuels a diverse agricultural output. This specific terroir shapes 17 protected denominations overlapping here. The steep, terraced vineyards surrounding the town yield the prestigious Alto Adige DOC, a wine zone spanning 52 municipalities, as well as the crisp white wines of the Valdadige DOC. Warm days and cool alpine nights also concentrate the sugars in local orchards, providing the raw ingredients for fruit distillates and curing the mountain air required for Speck Alto Adige IGP.
