Marlengo/Marling

Marlengo clings to the sunny moraine slopes overlooking the Adige River in the alpine province of Bolzano. This steep alpine topography creates a dry microclimate where Mediterranean warmth meets cool mountain drafts, perfect for viticulture. Within this territory, 17 protected denominations overlap. Chief among them is the local Alto Adige DOC, which utilizes the high-altitude hillside vineyards to yield crisp, mineral-rich wines. The lower alluvial soils feed the Valdadige DOC, while local distillers capture the region's fruit and pomace to craft aromatic spirits like Südtiroler Grappa IG, expressing the sharp transitions of the mountain landscape.
