Rasun-Anterselva/Rasen-Antholz

High in the Antholz Valley of Bolzano province, where alpine winds sweep down from the Rieserferner peaks, Rasun-Anterselva shapes a rugged terroir for alpine specialties. This high-altitude landscape hosts 15 protected denominations. Among these local treasures is Südtiroler Zwetschgeler IG, a traditional plum spirit distilled from fruit that thrives in the extreme thermal swings of the valley. Local bakers also preserve Südtiroler Schüttelbrot IGP, a crunchy rye flatbread dried on wooden racks. The harsh mountain climate and pure glacial runoff define these alpine flavors, rendering them inseparable from the rocky terrain of this bilingual borderland.
