What grows here
Salorno sulla strada del vino/Salurn an der Weinstraße
17 protected denominations overlap in this municipality.
At the Chiusa di Salorno gorge, where the Adige Valley narrows to form South Tyrol’s historic linguistic border, wind-funneling rock faces create a dramatic viticultural microclimate. This natural bottleneck channels alpine breezes directly onto the vineyards of the Alto Adige DOC, a territory of 52 municipalities. This transition zone also nurtures the Valdadige DOC, anchoring 17 protected denominations in Salorno’s soils. Here, the sharp temperature drops between day and night, forced by the canyon walls, yield exceptionally crisp grapes and structured wines found nowhere else in the valley.
