San Genesio Atesino/Jenesien

Perched on the sun-drenched Salten plateau directly above Bolzano, San Genesio Atesino—or Jenesien—experiences an Alpine-Mediterranean climate that shapes its distinct agricultural output. This dramatic elevation and extreme temperature variance nourish the grapes destined for the prestigious Alto Adige DOC, a wine zone spanning 52 mountain municipalities. In total, 16 protected denominations overlap across these high slopes, where dry mountain breezes also cure the traditional Südtiroler Schüttelbrot IGP.
