In the dry, alpine landscape of the bilingual Bolzano/Bozen province, Silandro/Schlanders benefits from a unique microclimate shielded by high mountain peaks. This valley floor fosters 16 protected denominations. Chief among these is the Alto Adige DOC, which regulates the area's high-altitude viticulture. The alpine climate also concentrates fruit sugars, fueling the production of regional spirits like the plum-based Südtiroler Zwetschgeler IG.
