Livinallongo del Col di Lana

In the northern peaks of Belluno, within the Ladin-speaking cultural enclave of Ladinia, Livinallongo del Col di Lana sustains a mountain-grown gastronomy. This scattered commune, anchored by the hamlet of Pieve, holds 15 protected food and wine denominations. The steep high-altitude pastures yield the nectar for Miele delle Dolomiti Bellunesi DOP, a wildflower honey, and provide the alpine milk required for Piave DOP cheese. These distinct foods are defined by rugged elevations and historic Alpine isolation, which concentrate the natural sugars of the wild flora and the proteins of the dairy.
