Situated within Venice's metropolitan hinterland, Meolo's low-lying alluvial plains have long been shaped by the Venetian lagoon's proximity and maritime climate. This damp, fertile terrain nurtures 15 protected denominations. Chief among them is the highly localized Veneto Orientale IGT, a wine designation shared with just 26 neighboring municipalities. The area also excels in producing the robust Piave Malanotte DOCG, a red wine that thrives in these clay-rich soils. Here, the cooling Adriatic winds and historical river paths combine to yield structured, expressive wines that reflect the specific coastal-inland transition of the Venetian province.
