Candiana

In the southern reaches of the Padova province, the flat, fertile soils of Candiana support a specialized viticultural landscape shaped by Venetian agricultural history. This municipality of just over two thousand residents sits within the highly restricted, 14-commune cultivation zone of the prestigious Bagnoli Friularo DOCG, a robust red wine crafted from the late-harvested Friularo grape. In total, Candiana hosts 17 protected denominations, including the local Bagnoli di Sopra DOC. The humid microclimate of these lowlands, combined with clay-heavy alluvial earth, develops the intense acidity and deep structure that define these historic wines.
