Moruzzo

Moruzzo’s stony alpine-fringe terrain, cultivated by fewer than 2,400 residents in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, shapes the character of its 15 protected denominations. This highly gravelly terroir is the structural signature of the Friuli Grave DOC, a wine zone spanning 93 municipalities where grapevines must struggle through well-drained river pebbles to yield concentrated, elegant white wines. The same local climate and soil profile also nurture the specialized turnip crops required for producing the distinctive Brovada DOP. Here, geological history and small-scale farming converge to turn challenging soils into highly sought-after regional delicacies.
