Medea

Sharing its name with the mythical Colchian sorceress who aided the Argonauts, the Gorizian commune of Medea channels a distinct geological magic into the Friuli Isonzo DOC, a prestigious wine zone encompassing 21 municipalities. The local alluvial gravels and warm Adriatic winds shape intensely aromatic whites. While Medea is home to 15 protected denominations in total, including the traditional turnip-based Brovada DOP, it is this specific riparian terroir along the Isonzo basin that defines its viticultural identity, yielding highly concentrated grapes that cannot be replicated outside this narrow northeastern Italian corridor.
