Oriolo

Oriolo, a municipality in Calabria's Cosenza province, owes its distinctive produce to a past shaped by necessity. Originally a fortress protecting those who fled coastal Saracen raids, its inland, defensible position fostered a unique agricultural identity. This ancient settlement is now a pivotal point for 12 protected denominations. Notably, it contributes to the Terre di Cosenza DOC, a wine zone spanning 150 municipalities. The same specific microclimate and soil conditions that once offered refuge now yield renowned Clementine di Calabria IGP and Liquirizia di Calabria DOP, products deeply rooted in Oriolo's singular history and geography.
