In the historic Friuli territory, Fanna’s countryside is widely celebrated for preserving rare heritage apple varieties. This Alpine foothill environment nurtures 15 protected denominations in total. Foremost is the Friuli Grave DOC, a specialized wine zone of 93 municipalities where gravelly soils produce mineral-rich whites. The mountain-influenced climate also regulates the slow fermentation of Brovada DOP, a traditional turnip specialty. Fanna’s geographic position between chilly Alpine drafts and the Adriatic basin creates a highly specific microclimate where these legacy orchards, vineyards, and specialized food crafts thrive side-by-side.
