Zaccanopoli

Perched on the northern slope of Mount Poro, Zaccanopoli, in Calabria's Vibo Valentia province, holds a rich agricultural identity. Its local economy, profoundly shaped by traditional farming and the raising of sheep and goats, cultivates an ideal environment for distinct regional specialties. This compact municipality contributes to a total of 13 protected denominations, with particular prominence given to two highly localized products. Here, the unique conditions foster the 'Cipolla Rossa di Tropea Calabria IGP', celebrated for its sweetness, and, most notably, the 'Pecorino del Monte Poro DOP', a cheese whose very essence is born from the mountain pastures, reflecting centuries of pastoral expertise.
