In Suvereto, in the Livorno hinterland overlooking the Val di Cornia, Carlini Lorenzo works within two contiguous denominations — Suvereto DOCG and Val di Cornia Rosso DOCG — which celebrate the red wines of a Maremma strip with a continental climate. In the vineyard, Sangiovese coexists with international grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah, forming the basis of a range that seeks structure and definition rather than sheer power. Behind the labels lies a family story of disruption and recovery. Grandfather Bruno ran a winery in Chianti until the methanol scandal of the 1980s, which forced the family to stop and rethink. Lorenzo's return to the vineyards in the early 2000s marks a conscious resumption of that legacy, albeit moved south of the Arno, to lands different from their origin.
