POGGIO di Poggio Matteo
Castel Boglione · Province of Asti · Piemonte
POGGIO di Poggio Matteo traces its roots to 1899, when Leonardo built the original stone house on Collina Croja. What began as mixed agriculture—cereals, livestock, vineyards—gradually focused on wine as the family recognized that the lean, calcareous soils at 400–450 metres were ideal for vines. The maritime wind and altitude shape distinctive profiles across Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, Terre Alfieri, and Barbera d'Asti: aromatic intensity balanced by elegant freshness. Using only estate fruit, the producer preserves the terroir signature that hard, mineral ground has always offered.
