Perched in the Alessandria hills just thirty kilometers from Casale Monferrato, the tiny, quiet outpost of Villamiroglio fosters an incredibly concentrated wine legacy, holding 18 protected denominations within its borders. The municipality’s steep, sun-exposed slopes provide the ideal microclimate for highly localized viticulture, most notably the rare Rubino di Cantavenna DOC, a red wine shared with only three other neighboring territories. Close behind is the Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese DOC, which thrives across a limited zone of 34 municipalities. These selective terroirs define Villamiroglio’s viticultural identity, where clay-limestone soils turn native grapes into structured, historical masterworks.
