Clivio

Clivio, a Lombardy borderland enclave of fewer than two thousand residents in the Varese province, shapes its gastronomic output around its hilly topography. Within this small area, 15 protected denominations overlap. The local meadows provide the ideal forage for producing Formaggella del Luinese DOP, a raw goat's milk cheese crafted within a limited zone of 66 municipalities. Furthermore, the surrounding sun-baked slopes support the vineyards of Ronchi Varesini IGT wines, showcasing how Clivio’s specific soils and cold Alpine breezes directly influence both cheese making and regional viticulture.
