This mountain environment, where alpine peaks meet milder sub-Mediterranean climate currents, influences the raw-milk dairy herds behind Puzzone di Moena DOP, a pungent cheese crafted within a restricted zone of 22 municipalities. Trodena hosts 18 protected denominations in total, including the steep-slope Alto Adige DOC wines. Here, the extreme elevation and dramatic temperature shifts concentrate the sugars and aromatics in both mountain grapes and wild botanicals.
