Fornace

Named for the ancient masonry kilns once used to bake local clay and limestone, the municipality of Fornace in Trentino-South Tyrol has transitioned from industrial baking to cultivating protected alpine flavors. Today, this terraced landscape contributes to 19 protected denominations. Among the most localized is the crisp Mele del Trentino IGP, an apple that thrives in the high-altitude breezes of this specific valley. The steep terrain also nurtures stone fruits destined for Aprikot trentino IG, a traditional spirit crafted across a restricted zone of 166 municipalities, marrying Fornace's fiery, furnace-like past with refined mountain distillation.
