Sarteano’s distinct terroir, located in the southern hills of Siena province where fewer than 4,500 residents live, shapes an exceptional agricultural output. The dry, breezy climate of these Tuscan slopes nurtures the Sangiovese grapes destined for Orcia DOC, a wine shared with only eleven other municipalities, and feeds the groves yielding peppery Terre di Siena DOP olive oil. In total, this territory hosts 19 protected denominations.
