Pallanzeno

In the alpine terrain of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, the small community of Pallanzeno channels its steep mountainsides into distinctive alpine flavors. This terroir shapes 17 protected denominations, led by highly localized specialties. The terraced vineyards here yield the rare Valli Ossolane DOC, a wine reflecting the mineral-rich soils of a narrow 17-municipality zone. Complementing these alpine pours is Ossolano DOP, a firm cheese made from milk collected across a select territory of 37 northern Piedmontese communities. Here, alpine meltwater and high-altitude pastures converge to define a truly localized culinary identity.
