Azienda Agricola Brancatisano Beatrice
Bianco · Province of Reggio Calabria · Calabria
From its base in Bianco, in the province of Reggio Calabria, Beatrice Brancatisano works with four denominations that follow the southern Ionian coast: Locride, Palizzi, Costa Viola, and Pellaro, all IGT. These are four contiguous but distinct zones, each with its own microclimates and native grape varieties, which the winery interprets without homogenizing them. The volcanic terroirs of the Calabrian side impart a mineral base to the wines, which reappears with different accents from one municipality to another. The range moves between opposing registers: the Nerello rosso, with its mineral and decisive profile, and the Montonico bianco di Locride, more delicate and nuanced. In between, the other IGTs tell the story of variations along a stretch of coast where sea exposure and soil type change within a few kilometers. Bringing together four denominations means reading this fragmented geography as a single narrative, in which each wine captures the character of its specific sub-region at the extreme tip of the peninsula.
