Azienda Agricola Maurizi

On the slopes of Controguerra, in the Teramano area, Azienda Agricola Maurizi works with a range of six denominations that almost entirely cover the Abruzzese oenological spectrum. Montepulciano remains the cornerstone—a grape variety that finds its ideal terroir and structure here—but alongside the reds, there are also Trebbiano with its mineral profiles, the rosé Cerasuolo, and territorial denominations spanning from the local municipality to the regional scale, from the borders of Villamagna to the 189 municipalities of Abruzzo. This is a range that demands time: the wines of Villamagna rest for at least ten months, developing a complexity in wood that allows no shortcuts. Each bottle bears the mark of the disciplines governing regional viticulture, with the technical precision necessary to achieve and maintain protected status in areas vastly different in size and vocation. The result is the portrait of a producer who measures himself by the variety of soils rather than by a single, repeated stylistic signature.
