Azienda Vitivinicola Corte Beneficio
Copparo · Province of Ferrara · Emilia-Romagna
Corte Beneficio was founded in the late 1960s when the Barison family — with Venetian agricultural roots and a stint in the Champagne region — brought their winemaking craft to the Ferrara area. Today, Annalisa Barison leads the company, amidst the vineyards of Bosco Eliceo DOC and the neighboring Emilia IGT parcels, in a strip of land where making wine remains a counter-current choice. The denomination tells the story of a strip of plain near the sea, sandy and humid lands not traditionally considered suitable: here, Fortana, a local grape variety, coexists with Sauvignon and Merlot in a balance that reflects geography more than fashion. It is a multi-generational effort, where the connection to the vine is handed down along with the business. Corte Beneficio opens its doors to those who want to understand this less-traveled corner of rural Emilia-Romagna: tastings in the cellar, in Copparo, are an opportunity to directly sample the Bosco Eliceo wines and reconstruct, glass in hand, the history of a family that chose to remain where few cultivate.
