Battaglio Mario

🏡 Tastings & visitsRoero DOCG

In the Roero, an area of nineteen municipalities stretching along the left bank of the Tanaro river, Battaglio Mario interprets two souls of the territory: the Nebbiolo for bold reds and the Arneis for fragrant whites and elegant sparkling wines. The vineyards are divided between Vezza d'Alba and the renowned Serragrilli, near Neive, lands where successive layers of ancient settlements have left their mark on the landscape. It is a stratified geography, where pre-Indo-European and Roman memories have settled into the very shape of the hills. From this soil come wines designed for longevity: the minimum aging of twenty months seeks the mineral precision and intensity that Roero can offer, without yielding to simplicity. The result is a sober and vertical interpretation of the territory, consistent with its history. Those wishing to grasp its character can stop directly at the winery, where the wines can be tasted on site: an opportunity to compare Nebbiolo and Arneis at their source and, glass after glass, to read the two faces of this corner of Piedmont.
