Cantina Villamagna

Cantina Villamagna is rooted in the subsistence viticulture of the 1960s, in the medieval village of Villamagna in the province of Chieti, when families cultivated Montepulciano in small plots of land. It was research conducted by local enthusiasts that recognized a restricted area, between Villamagna, Vacri, and Bucchianico, as particularly suited for great red wines. From that discovery, the Villamagna DOC was born, protecting wines aged at least ten months, and it forms the identity core of the winery. Around it, a range of Abruzzese denominations covers the entire regional palette: from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo to Trebbiano d'Abruzzo for whites, from Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo for rosés, to the broader Abruzzo and Controguerra. These are six interpretations of the same ampelographic heritage, anchored by Montepulciano as the guiding grape. The winery applies traditional winemaking methods to restore the characteristic aromas of the land, combining locally accumulated knowledge with the authentic expression of the terroir. The thread that holds the range together remains that small, dedicated territory from which it all began.
