Copertino

Wine · PDO · 6 municipalities

Established in 1982, the Copertino DOC covers six Apulian municipalities, including Arnesano and Carmiano. This denomination distinguishes itself through strict vineyard composition limits: while Negro Amaro must comprise at least 70% of the blend, Sangiovese is specifically capped at 15% of the total vines in the vineyard. Yielding a maximum of 14.0 tonnes per hectare, the resulting base red wine must reach at least 12.0% alcohol by volume. It delivers a persistent vinous aroma and a dry, velvety palate with a characteristic slightly bitter aftertaste, developing light orange tones when aged.
