Rimini
Wine · PDO · 26 municipalities
Recognised since 2004, the Rimini DOC spans 26 Romagnolan municipalities, including Casteldelci and Cattolica. A major regulatory distinction of this appellation, which changed its name from 'Colli di Rimini' via EU Regulation 2022/1652, is the mandatory bottling within the province of Rimini, subject only to specific grandfather exemptions. Furthermore, its specialized Rebola passito, produced from at least 85% Grechetto Gentile, is distinguished from standard regional styles by highly restrictive production standards. This dessert wine requires a minimum sugar concentration of 280 grams per litre in the must and limits the final grape-to-wine yield to 50%, compared to the 70% permitted for other wine types.
