Guardialfiera

Guardialfiera, a municipality in Molise's Campobasso province, owes much of its distinct produce to the presence of the eponymous artificial lake. This unique hydrological feature, born from the Biferno river, shapes the local microclimate and soil composition. From this specific environment spring 8 protected denominations, most notably the Biferno DOC wine, crafted within a zone spanning just 42 municipalities. The deep red Tintilia del Molise DOC also flourishes here, reflecting the singular conditions of this corner of Molise. This terroir also supports Molise DOP olive oil, contributing to a rich, distinctive agricultural identity.
