Since 1935, Abrigo Fratelli has cultivated the sheltered hills of Diano d'Alba, ever since Ernesto Abrigo left Treiso to establish the estate in the Berfi hamlet. Today, siblings Ernesto and Mariarita manage four Piedmontese DOCG wines, centered on two grape varieties: Dolcetto yields Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba and Dogliani, while Nebbiolo gives us Barbaresco and Barolo, the latter aged for a minimum of thirty-eight months. This range harmoniously combines the straightforward drinkability of Dolcetto with the profound depth of great age-worthy reds, without flattening them into a single register. Three generations have layered a unique way of interpreting the terroir here, and the estate shares this story by opening its doors to visitors. A visit introduces guests to the diverse exposures and distinct soils that define these denominations, clarifying why four such different wines coexist in the same cellar.
