Argiano interprets Montalcino through two denominations that mark its extremes: Brunello di Montalcino, the classic discipline of pure Sangiovese, and Toscano IGT, a ground for experimentation where more liberal versions are born, including those with a Supertuscan imprint. The first demands time—at least forty-eight months of aging—before revealing its complexity; the second grants the company broader room for maneuver. The Montalcino territory, made up of soils and microclimates that change from hill to hill, remains the constant reference: from long-aged reds to white and rosé interpretations, every label refers to the daily work of those who cultivate and vinify. It is a dialogue between two ways of reading the same grape variety, the measure of the disciplinary and personal research, which coexist without excluding each other.
